Movie Makers EXTREME *FULL DAY* Camp

Ready to write and star in your own feature film? Or maybe behind the scenes work like filming and video editing is for you! Whatever role you prefer (or try them all!) Movie Makers EXTREME will get you there!

Campers will take the week to work in teams to create a movie of their choice! Everything from adventure, action, scary films, musicals, etc. It’s a blast! The kids will utilize iPads and iMovie (movie editing software) to write, act, film and edit their own trailers and movies!

Students will get to get crafty and create props AND use one of our many green screens or fun backdrops. Using the green screen with our video editing software will allow you video to take place anywhere! We can even green screen your body away for fun effects like floating heads or missing arms. We will also have a chance to use clay, legos and stop-motion cameras to make objects come to life in your films!

On the last day, campers will enjoy a movie viewing of all of the movies created with a fun popcorn and candy party!

The camp will take place with Mrs. deLara (maiden name: Miss Marinelli). I hope you join us for our FIFTH year celebration of Movie Makers!

Or do you just enjoy math and want to solve challenging problems in a fun, game-like setting? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Math Olympiads is the camp for you! During the school year, Math Olympiads is a math club that meets weekly to practice and participate in contests against other competitors worldwide. Although we won't be competing through the official program during the summer, students will learn problem solving strategies and methods of tackling challenging, non-traditional problems. Students will become better problem solvers, explore mathematical topics they aren't likely to learn about in their regular classroom during the school year, and have a great time doing it. This camp is geared towards students who enjoy and excel in math. Students who would benefit from a camp that reviews grade level skills should look for the camps called "Math Camp."

I am a mom of 4 school aged children, an experienced elementary school educator, and a certified adult and children’s yoga teacher who LOVES to connect with, and inspire children every day. Each class I offer will be fun filled from beginning to end! My goal is to offer an empowering, educational, and creativity-boosting camp experience. Is your child ready for 6th grade math this fall? Do they possess all of the core skills which are necessary to succeed? If you are not completely sure, have your child come join Ms. Hartnett  for a fun-filled week of learning!

Who says math is boring? It’s definitely not when Ms. Hartnett is teaching it! We will spend the week refining the critical skills (see below) that students will need in order to achieve success once school starts just a few weeks later. Each morning, we will focus on 2-3 important skills and then test each child’s understanding by having them participate in fun, hands-on, and engaging games. Together, let’s make this upcoming school year your child’s best yet!

We will also preview the first month of what your child will be taught in 6th grade. This will greatly help ease their transition in this new environment.

Skills to be covered: arithmetic, fractions, geometry, rounding, place value, factors, multiples and so much more!

*Please note that space is limited.
